Kole Notes Summer 2015

It has been much too long a time since I’ve sent you an update on what has and what is going on in our lives…This year has been great and performances are on the rise thank goodness…

Our annual Jazz on the Bayou fundraiser that we do is in the backyard of Chateau Kole here on Bayou Liberty was a real winner…All the chefs as well as the patrons love the setting and after expenses like the comfort station, tents, chairs, tables plus Bobby Ohler and The Harbor Band and the Storyville Stompers are paid we were able to distribute whopping $116,500 to our designated charities from this “backyard” event…No salaries are paid to our hard working committee members who work year around to make sure we have a fantastic event…Also a BIG THANK YOU goes out to our wonderful sponsors, and the chefs/restaurants who donate their time and food…If you haven’t been to Jazz on the Bayou and would like to be added to next years mailing list, send me an email with your mailing address and we’ll make sure that you are notified in 2016…”Jazz” will be held on the third weekend of March, 2016…

This summer was great as usual as we did our annual trip to France, plus Belgium and Germany…We saw many friends, drank plenty of fine wines and of course ate some fantastic food…Oh, yes I did perform in each country and all were very gratifying to say the least…The Bordeaux area of France, Spa, Belgium and at Restaurant Zur Traube in Germany…

Next week we’ll head up to Nashville to do a “Showcase” for Live on Stage…There will be 400 people in the audience and most, if not all, are buyers for their 2016/17 concert series…August 28th and 30th its up to Rock Springs, WY to do a concert and also to perform a church service…Sort of a “Jazz Mass” which we’ve done a few times over the past decade or so…

September will take me to the Pacific Northwest to do a handful of solo concerts for Live on Stage…See the “Gigs” page of this website for details.

We’ll follow that with a return performance with the Rapides Symphony Orchestra on September 26th in Alexandria, LA…I’m not sure if it’ll be outside on the banks of the Red River or in the Performing Arts Center…The trio is excited to once again perform so close to home and also for so many of our friends and fans in Central Louisiana…A really fine orchestra and Maestro Zona is a joy to work with…

Well I guess that I’ve bent your ear long enough…We would be lost without your support and that of so many other friends and followers…

Big hugs to all from Gardner and me…and also Lloyd (drums) and Danny (bass guitar)…and do keep in touch;
